Duffy Bishop
"Ooh Wee!" is Trillium Records newest release. It's a collection of tunes that Duffy selected from her 50's - 60's R&B record collection. There are covers of songs by Big Maybelle, Dolly Cooper, Wynona Carr, Dolores Hawkins, Wynonie Harris, Lazy Lester, Ike and Tina Turner, Ray Charles, O.V. Wright, Sugarpie DeSanto, and Fats Domino. Also included is an original about Portland's Tamale King, John Henry.
The Duffy Bishop Band is without a doubt one of Portlands greatest treasures. With scores of awards and four of the finest CDs ever to come out of the Rose City, Duffy Bishop and her guitarist/ songwriter husband, Chris Carlson, have become one of the most popular Northwest acts at festivals and nightclubs around the nation.
There are countless reasons for their success, but The Oregonians John Foyston summed it up nicely, "Some blueswomen never get past big, bold and brassy, but Bishop knows well the uses of subtlety in songs. [Her] sly knowing humor is one of Bishops many charms."
